Blue Robboned Skies
By Robyne Parrish
Today I saw blue ribboned skies
From whence you fell
You angel youThe mystery of your ribboned eyes
The stories told
In rings and whispsThe ever changing gusts and gulls
And how your face
It perks and clownsWhat happens when an angel dies?
They fall to earth and slowly drownI have no clouds to keep you here
No gentle whips
Or fluffs of whiteThe earth offers no refreshing drink
To keep you from fading
Cracked and coldThere is no fire to warm your hands
Your cheeks begin
To lose their glowI even think that angels melt
Or shrink
When it’s their time to goToday blue ribbons soared and ruffled
And I missed you in this autumn placeFor just a moment to behold you
And kiss the tears
From your angel face

Jillian of Peach Creek Stables
“A delightful story with endearing characters. This book offers a fun, innocent escape for today’s middle school girls.”
— Tanya Dennis (www.TanyaDennisBooks.com)
Managing Editor, Christian Children’s Book Review (www.CCBReview.blogspot.com)
“After reading this refreshing book, I felt like I’d revisited my early teens. A sweet ‘girl meets boy’ story. The ‘puppy love’ they find brought a smile to my face, reminding me of the old days. Young teens will especially enjoy and relate to this book. A good clean story with a very interesting outcome… a great way to curl up and spend an afternoon… every time I had to put it down I couldn’t wait to pick it up again.”
— Susan B. Powell, Victim Advocate, Lexington County Courthouse and Minister’s Wife, Red Bank Baptist Church
“A good, clean story that mother and daughter will find hard to put down. I hope Robyne has more tales of Jillian in the making.”

The I’m Not Your Princess Diaries of Shelby Sweet: Book 1
“I absolutely LOVED it. The voice is fantastic. It has all the elements of a teenager’s life: secrets, angst, feelings of low self-worth, and sprinkles of happiness. After leaving all she holds dear behind, Shelby has to move to a new area with her family. Convinced they don’t like her, she embarks on making friends and settling in to a new church. Will her secret come out? And if it does, how will everyone perceive her? Wracked with guilt, Shelby holds the burdens inside with only her diary to share her woes with. Until someone very special arrives in her life…"

Robbie Lee and the Wilds of Houston Valley
“This book was an absolute find. I grew up during the great depression I am from Atlanta Georgia, not Tennessee, nevertheless, I found this book to be a refreshing trip back in time to my youth — a simple and beautiful story about family. A tear jerker at times, but mostly, a story full of laughter. I stumbled upon it on the recommendation of an old friend who knows of the author and her family. For children and adults.”
— Joan Curver, a retired editor and school teacher, A Trip Back in Time, Barnes and Nobles five-star review.
“R.M. Parrish picks up where Laura Ingalls Wilder leaves off. A cozy read for young ones and their parents alike.”
— Robert Reale, Tony-nominated composer of Broadway’s A Year With Frog and Toad
“This is a book for anyone who ever doubted that history was a vibrant, living thing; who ever thought that hard times would never end; who never believed in the power of family, of the earth, and of love. An entertainment for children, and a revelation for their parents.”
— Steve Friedman, author of The Agony of Victory: When Winning Isn’t Enough
“In her book, Robbie Lee and the Wilds of Houston Valley, R.M. Parrish captures the voice, eyes and the ears of its eponymous young narrator. The novel provides a fascinating glimpse of life in rural Tennessee, from the late 1920s through the Great Depression years. While written for mid-grade readers, adults, too, will be enchanted with the authentic details and charming characters. A fine first novel.”
— Alma Daniel, co-author, Ask Your Angels, published by Ballantine Books, a division of Random House.
“…This was another one of my favorite books and I included it in my summer reading program for the grandchildren.”
— Review, Rose T. Wilkins, Sandlapper Magazine of South Carolina, Autumn 2008 issue
